Against all hope, hope. That's the mantra of Southern California up-and-comers TRUE COLOR OF SOUND. Unafraid to be honest about the pains of loneliness, longing, and disappointment, vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/founder Aric Crowell started the band as a means of catharsis through unfavorable circumstances, physical and emotional. But the goal is never to stay down. No matter how bleak things may look, there's an earnest, stubborn hope for change. A difficult balancing act, for sure, but for TRUE COLOR OF SOUND, it's a worthy endeavor. TRUE COLOR OF SOUND combines melodic alternative rock guitars, driving trap beats, and lush chillwave synthesizers to create a sound Crowell has dubbed "Soundcloud Rock". The band's many influences include Kanye West, The 1975, Bon Iver, and Frank Ocean. The band currently includes Crowell as the sole official member on vocals and guitar (also bass, keys, and drum programming in the studio) with a handful of talented guest contributors, including Ben Berry (drums, drum programming), Megan Spencer (drums), Curtis Thompson (bass), Sullivan Williams (keys, vocals), Joel Burdette (vocals, bass), and Ryan Murphy (keys, vocals). They released their debut album, Wave//You, in 2019, and their sophomore album, The Fall Of Rome, on January 6, 2023. They are in the process of recording and releasing their third album, It'll Be Dark By The Time I Get Home, one song at a time. TRUE COLOR OF SOUND is currently based in San Dimas, California.
