With sonic influences rooted in his East African heritage, MAUIMØON taps into R&B, Afro-pop, and hip-hop sounds from different regions. He has quickly risen up in the Alte-R&B scene as his sound has continued to grow since releasing his single “Sweeta feat. Joshua Baraka" in 2022. He has been an integral part of the African alté R&B resurgence. Last year, he released “Supahawt” as the lead single from his latest project released in February last year. A few accolades include a #1 album debut on the Apple Music Charts in his home country, Uganda. He has also previously featured on the cover of both Spotify's Fresh Finds R&B and Fresh Finds Africa early last year. He was Apple Music's first-ever Up Next artist from East Africa and was selected as Africa Rising Artist during the week of EP release which saw him feature on The Nadeska Show on Apple Music 1. Internationally, Maui has enjoyed UK Radio spot plays from the likes of BBC Radio 1, featured on the Future Soul with Victoria Jane alongside numerous press looks from the likes of Native Magazine, Harmattan Rain, Pulse Nigeria, and Homecoming among others. To date, Maui has over 8.5m+ streams across his current catalogue globally with his previous EP (From Uganda With Love) garnering over 2.5m+ streams on Spotify alone for the project.
