Born in Istanbul, New York/New Jersey-based jazz pianist Burak Bedikyan is one of the foremost players and composers of his native country. As a leader and a highly sought-after sideman for a variety of American and European artists, his work is internationally recognized for its originality and stylistic variety. Bedikyan has played countless club dates and performed at various festivals all around the world. Recorded his debut album Circle of Life in 2012 in collaboration with Chris Potter, Peter Washington and Bill Stewart. 2015 gave birth to his 2nd album as a leader. Leap of Faith features Chris Cheek, Ron McClure and Billy Drummond. As in his 1st album, it presents a set of original compositions rooted in the American jazz tradition, embracing European influences as well as his Turkish/Armenian heritage. His 3rd CD "Awakening" was published in 2016 with the participation of Loren Stillman, Ugonna Okegwo and Donald Edwards. In 2017, he signed up with Alessa Records for his European 4tet's live album The Hybrid 4TET (Live at Amsec), joining forces with Andy Middleton, Johannes Strasser and Joris Dudli. His 5th album "New Beginning" is a trio featuring Jay Anderson and Adam Nussbaum. "Istanbul Junction" (2019) presents a fresh repertoire of originals performed with his fellow musicians Can Kozlu, Matthew Hall and Gábor Bolla. His 7th and latest studio album is "Introspection" (2021), which consists of a selection of fully improvised solo piano pieces.
