FUEDAL has many talents and takes no prisoners. Los Angeles Based Electric Duo, Troy Woodhall and Matt Francini started the project under the name “yar” in 2019. By combining the dark, underground industrial-inspired beats found in the warehouses of Berlin, Brooklyn, and LA, then marrying it with the pop vocal sensibilities from the likes of Depeche Mode, The Cure, Hot Chip, and LCD Soundsystem, they released their first EP “Cold Caller” in 2022, a gritty, genre-bending sound across LA. In 2023 the group rebranded under the name “FUEDAL” on the back of their mind melting, heart rate elevating 4 song industrial EP “Unit 1.” Unit 1 draws inspiration not only from the typical EBM/Industrial artists but also a healthy dose of 80s-inspired poptones and features Troy Woodhall’s sonic production prowess, percussive onslaughts and lyrical input combined with Matt Francini’s synth leads, basslines, and vocal melodies all drenched in reverberant psychedelic effects that blend genres and leave sonic stereotypes at the door. Unit 1 takes listeners on a guided tour through the gilded experience of Los Angeles, touching on subjects as varied as questioning one’s relationship, satirizing the existential dilemma of showing up to your 9-5, and recognizing the sometimes-nihilistic existence of the LA experience.
