Originally from the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia Tawobi returned to the city in 2015 after a 2 year stay at St. Johns University. Inspired by artists like Outkast, E-40 and Fiona Apple, Tawobi thought all he needed to do was find a way to New York, rap for the right people and he’d make it. He spent two years there attempting to get in studios, get shows and meet all the right people. Instead he ended up getting high, chasing women, and fake promises of opportunity. He ended his last year held up in his room smoking weed and working on his writing and production. Since dropping out Tawobi’s life has been a roller coaster of odd jobs, home studios, evictions, hustling, heroin addicts, schizophrenics and recording recording recording. After two years and some change Tawobi has a stable living situation with some of his oldest friends and members of the Philly artist ensemble Highest Basement Collective (HBC). The past two years have consisted of his most consistent content output to date. Caused by a never ending work ethic and isolation Wobi released 4 EP's, 5 videos and finished the full length album he began when he first touched down back home in 2015. Delivering obscure music with a message and pissing off all the right people. Tawobi has performed alongside artists such as Dopehead, Ant Beale, Mir Fontane, and KEY!.
