Biography

Pianist Shane van Neerden (b. 1999) has been studying in the Netherlands for four years and recently graduated from his bachelor degree with a 10 ‘cum laude’. He has already well established his name throughout the country and performed in such venues as het Concertgebouw Amsterdam (live for Radio 4), het Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, as well as on the television program Podium Witteman. 
 Born in the Unites States, he started private piano lessons from the age of six with Dr. Carl Cranmer. Now he studies with Frank Peters at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and Eliso Virsaladze at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. Among the teachers with whom Shane has worked include Jan Wijn, Jacques Rouvier, Robert Levin, and Susan Starr. 
 Shane has won numerous competitions throughout the U.S.A. as well as in France. When he first came to Amsterdam, he played Franz Liszt’s Totentanz under the direction of Ed Spanjaard. Additionally, Shane is one of the four finalists of Dutch Classical Talent and in January 2024 will perform 15 solo recitals throughout the Netherlands. His program will include a new work by Rick van Veldhuizen. 
 Shane is also collaborating with artists such as photographer Rutger ten Broeke, painter Eleanora Tammes, and sculptor Berlinde de Bruyckere.
