Thanasis Vasilas was born in Thessaloniki on August 2, 1973 and grew up in Ioannina. For the last 18 years he collaborated with Mikis Theodorakis as a bouzouki soloist and head of his orchestra. He has collaborated with most Greek singers and composers: Mary Linda, Eleni Vitali, Glykeria, Giannis Parios, Dimitra Galani, Dimitris Basis, Giorgos Mazonakis, Giannis Spanos, Dimitris Papadimitriou et al. In 2000 he created, with three other bouzouki masters, the bouzouki quartet RAST, with which, for five years, they appeared in music stages and theaters in Greece and abroad and released two CDs of instrumental music for bouzouki. In 2014, in collaboration with Mikis Theodorakis, he released the orchestral album "Antitheseis". In this album, he arranged the composer's melodies, giving a completely different perspective based on the bouzouki. In collaboration with Michalis Koumbios, in recent years, he released three international albums. The album "Galazio" with melodies by Mikis Theodorakis, the album "Hellada" with melodies by modern Greek composers and an exciting soundtrack with "Taximia for places and people". Today he continues to collaborate with various singers in live performances and studios, while at the same time appearing with his own projects, based on instrumental music for bouzouki, trying to promote and highlight the potential of the Greek national instrument!
