Growing up in a cult in a small town in Pennsylvania, Cosette Gobat’s story began when they started training as an opera singer at age 11. Coming from a musical family history and their connection to spirituality offered them a different view and evocation of creative expression from a young age. Composing music for local documentaries and playing with big artists such as Sheryl Crow, they were signed to their first record deal at age 14 with Decapolis Records. After performing on ABC in 2015, they took their career in a different direction studying and working as a mastering engineer under Michael Jackson’s ex-producer at Arctic Records in Philadelphia. The release of their self-produced debut album, ‘Couteau’, offered an introduction of their wide-range artistic ability and knowledge, a well-produced blend of folk, classical, and dream pop. Their 2021 release ‘Endings’, written about their struggle with C-PTSD, received world recognition by the BBC, Still Listening Magazine, NPR, and Berlin on Air. Following a traumatic brain injury leaving them physically disabled, Cosette uses their unique perspective of the world to continue to experiment with different genres and artistic aesthetics. They have announced the upcoming release of their sophomore album for 2025 and are currently releasing their experimental and compositional works under telepath blue.
