Travis D. Johnson (working since 2014 under the alias datewithdeath) is an electroacoustic composer/producer from Florida who creates rhythms and atmospheres characterized by the dynamic interplay between chance and structure, playfulness and rigor, using digital synthesis, found sound sampling, manipulated field recordings, and microsounds. He has received support from Francisco López, Rashad Becker, :zoviet*france:, Sonae, and Kim Cascone, and his work has been heard at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. His collaborations include work with Fire-Toolz, Steve Flato, Dead Voices On Air, Jeph Jerman, Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson, dvdv, Carl Kruger, Gintas K, Howard Stelzer, Vanessa Rossetto, Jukka-Pekka Kervinen, Neuro... No Neuro, and other luminaries of experimental music. He runs the Poverty Electronics label.
