Biography

The Suffolk town of Ipswich might not be where you would expect to find one of the major artists in UK Reggae, but this is the reality of the man called Mark Hull aka YT. Taking the head-on approach to dealing with his colour hence the name (originally Whitey Don), and having been totally absorbed in Reggae music and Jamaican culture since he was a little kid often frequenting the local 'Blues parties' and dances in his home town, Mark's love of the music has seen him embraced by Reggae audiences all over the globe especially Jamaica the birthplace of the genre. Currently YT is in great demand touring around the globe as he continues to work very closely with his Ipswich based family like Ashanti yard ,Digital and of course Innerheart , while still finding time to collaborate with many of the other top names in the industry. A YT performance can vary from him hosting a Sound System set , performing live with band or a DJ / selector or even more recently playing vinyls himself and flipping them over to chat on the versions as part of his new 'One The Hard Way' project which is proving to be very popular . Forthcoming recording projects include an LP with 'The Innerheart Band ' and recordings for a full conscious Hip Hop LP are underway not to mention many more powerful collaborations which promise to produce more big hits for the artist whom David Rodigan refers to as “ an original and inspiring social commentator”
