Biography

Boom Merchant returns to business here with 4 slabs of atom-splitting techno, bottling this Summer's experiences behind the decks and sometimes under the stars. Hope's Revenge lifts off with an array of distorted electronics and tribal drums giving way to a thunderous bass rhythm. A hyper-colour interlude that floats suspended in time, with reversed synth swelling to slow the momentum, gives way to more bass power as the track continues to morph and evolve. Next comes Burial, a rolling monster heavy in analog low-end impulses. Multiple hyper-pitched vocal parts rotate around smooth flutes to create a campfire headphase, before lashings of evil bass frequency take over once more. Find What Is Real enters more groovy territory, with his characteristic tough percussion rhythm flowing in a more lazy manner over echoing trumpets, and a harmonic sequence that relaxes the soul, before a menacing reese bass engages the thrusters late on. Nine rounds off the journey with a minimalist descent into darkness and distortion. We hope these tracks put a smile on your face. "Fast-rising Glaswegian producer Boom Merchant is a man whose sound is hard to pigeonhole, but is draped in rich and sinewed quality regardless." - Data Transmission "If you like tough, no bullshit house music that will make you dance, then Boom Merchant is for you." - theunderground
