Change is a force of nature. When folk singer and historical instrumentalist Kati Rán embarked on her a music career, it was so that a new, primal vision could emerge, unbound by conventional song structure, weaving nature, mythology and ancient history together in a folkloric and dark sound tapestry where intuition and the elemental meet. Kati Rán is a Dutch audio producer, lyricist, vocalist and historic sound multi-instrumentalist. As a performer on Nordic, medieval and verious ethnic instruments since the early 2000's she is considered a genre pioneer in the dark nordic folk genre. Kati Rán is signed with Svart Records (Finland) and releases her new Dark Nordic music album 'SÁLA' ( Old Norse for 'Sea' and 'Soul') on May 24th 2024, produced by Kati Rán and Jaani Peuhu (Swallow the Sun, IANAI, Mercury Circle, Hallatar, Lord of the Lost) together, and features a continuation of her audio collaboration with Norwegian black metal vocalist 'Gaahl' (Trelldom, Gaahls's wyrd, Wardruna) and an array of other Nordic voices and instrumentalists. According to Kati Rán "Music is a reminder that we are part of nature and can be considered as one of the strongest ways to communicate with one another on a deeply intimate and personal level. Music can transmit universal emotions and a connection to wisdom that reverberates through all ages". Kati Rán works in various music departments as a musician, engineer and vocalist for tv-, film and videogame sound productions.
