Formed in 2014, Anantara is a band that plays R&B/Soul music with a touch of Hip-hop, Pop, Smooth Jazz or Electronic in each of the songs. For our first EP, we chose to go with the concept of not having a lead vocalist as we are looking to explore as much as possible by featuring with a lot of musicians, allowing us to have different ideas and influences in each songs. Taken from a sanskrit language, Anantara is defined as having no interval or without borders. The name was chosen because it reflects us as a band which during that time Vicky and Kevin was studying abroad, but we believed distance nor time difference should hold us back from creating music together. The creative processes have been both fun and challenging. A lot of skype workshop sessions and recordings that took place abroad. It hasn't been easy, and the process didn't always go so smoothly but it has been a humbling experience from which we learned a lot. Our goal is to simply be a part of the music scene in Indonesia, a scene that we believe has gotten so exciting over the past few years and thanks to the music digital platforms, independent artists like us can finally have a chance to participate. All of us have been very grateful to have been given the opportunity to play and collaborate with awesome musicians along our journey and our hope is that together we can make the Indonesian music scene even better and more exciting.
