Biography

Sabine Liebner is a German pianist, noted for her performances of modern and contemporary music. She studied at the University of Music and Theater in Munich with Karl-Hermann Mrongovius, and participated in master classes with Leonhard Hokanson, Peter Feuchtwanger, Mieczyslaw Horszowski, Maurizio Pollini, and George Crumb. She is the recipient of several awards and grants, including the Music Promotion Award of the City of Munich, and she has been honored by the Goethe-Institut. In 1999 she founded the Munich-based series, "Morton Feldman and Friends," where she performed solo piano works and chamber music by the composer. Liebner has also become a preeminent interpreter of the music of John Cage, and specialized in American avant-garde works, performing music by Henry Cowell, Earle Brown, Christian Wolff, George Crumb, and Pauline Oliveros, among many others. Liebner has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at many festivals in Germany, and she has played with the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra and the Munich Chamber Orchestra. She has frequently recorded for Oehms Classics, Neos Productions, and Wergo.
