French music producer, inspired by the late 70’s soul era and hiphop’s late 90’s golden age. Albastard is a musician driven by his passion for anything groovy since his childhood. Started in the 80’s as a kid by playing guitar alongside few unsuccessful funk and reggae bands in Paris, France, he got his first sampler at 13 years old and quickly nailed few instrumental deals for some French MCs. He later moved to China where he turned out to be one of the funkiest DJs in south-east Asia, playing in clubs and festivals for over 12 years. Back to music production and influenced by soul-jazz-funk artists such as Roy Ayers, Marc Moulin, Khruangbin, Free Nationals, Skinshape, Surprise Chef, Syl Johnson - he decided to focus on producing music that blends all the genres that he has absorbed for the last 40 years.
