Mika has studied music in the U.S. and been involved in the craft for some time now. Mika’s story illustrates how the journey from point A to point B isn’t always a straight line. As a guitarist, Mika was diagnosed with a neurological condition, focal dystonia, which severely impacted his ability to play music. Some said permanently. Though, it didn’t. Mika picked up a new instrument, and started building his way back on his own two feet, with his own style. Or to say, with what he had left, his heart. The resulting style is a unique combination of the traditional singer-songwriter genre and a creative blend that borrows from many genres. Listeners will recognize soundtrack-inspired soundscapes they can easily to relate to, and a fusion of musical styles in his songs-- stories that need to be told. When something is taken from you, and you walk the long road to restore that, a musician’s expression becomes very focused, combined with the gratitude of being able to do what he always was meant to do.
