A natural overthinker, Thought Trails spent a decade quietly producing; an introverted mind sitting on countless folders of tracks. In 2022 the Brighton-raised electronic producer changed direction, producing his debut EP in just a few short weeks. The ‘4AM’ four-tracker was quickly picked up by Bristol imprint Shall Not Fade under their Time Is Now moniker, that won Best Newcomer Label at the 2022 DJ Mag Awards. His grime-inspired breaks and dark UKG cuts were soon supported by Breaka (Rinse FM), Benteki (Reprezent) and Bakey. It was his Dad’s love for Jimi Hendrix and an early introduction to Kurt Cobain that played a big part in Thought Trails' younger years. A kid whose hair matched the Nirvana frontman, along with his knock-off Fender Jag that kickstarted his connection with rock, metal, grunge, and blues from age eight. Dizzee, P Money and Roll Deep fuelled his teenage years before discovering The Prodigy’s raw energy and rage that bridged the gap for him between rock and rave culture. Through weekend raves and festival sound systems, Thought Trails was hooked to fired-up electronic beats, while often shifting to deeper cuts from the likes of Jai Paul, Jadu Heart, and Ben Khan. With his acid melodies and deep atmospherics Thought Trails moves through moods reflective of his eclectic set of inspirations.
