New single XAPA released! XAPA means "joy" in Greek. A wild crazy joy that rises within you after a long period at the bottom of the abyss, and suddenly gives you the strength to move mountains. Take possession of this joy in your turn 🌪️ Dafné Kritharas has a unique voice that goes straight to your heart, blowing above the seas and mountains. Also composer, she melts many styles together : traditional, jazz, classical, electronic... Her inspiration lies at the crossroads of the Eastern and Western world. She sings mainly in Greek, but also in languages of ethnicities that cohabited and shared the same melodies during centuries under the Ottoman Empire (Armenian, Bosnian, Kurdish, Ladino, Turkish...) attune with her discoveries, new encounters and travels. Her 1st album Djoyas de Mar (Lior 2018) features 12 tracks in Greek and Ladino. About her second album VARKA (Lior 2021), Maria Lord wrote in Songlines Magazine {#176} "It needs to be said on the onset that Dafné Kritharas has a fantastic voice, it has a clear pure quality and superb intonation that makes it stand out." She received the "Prix des musiques d'ici/Diaspora Music Awards" in 2020 (France) and the Grand Prix of the Charles Cros Academy for "Varka" in 2022 (France).
