Biography

Maarten Buning (born 25-11-1983), is a Dutch - Trinidadian composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist, best known for his scores to motion pictures. He is based in Malmö, Sweden. During his studies at the Utrecht School of the Arts in the Netherlands, Buning worked on a number of American film productions such as Rampage, Assault on Wallstreet, Far Cry, Darfur, In the name of the King 2 & 3. Shortly after graduating he scored Prisoners of the Sun (2013), starring John Rhys Davies and David Charvet, directed by Roger Christian. In 2016 Buning started a music company for media with Stan Koch. (Koch Buning). From there on things became a fruitful journey under which he won several prices. He scored trailers for blockbuster movies such as Talk to me, Marvel’s Eternals Shang Chi, Invasion, the Dropout and Oppenheimer. In advertising he scored large campaigns for Coca cola, Mercedes, Virgin Atlantic (in collab. with Lady Blackbird), Audi and so on. In 2017 he won the Dutch Bronze ADCN award for best music in the commercial ‘Info Support’ and an award at the Independent Days International Filmfest for scoring the short multi-award-winning drama 'Something about Alex'. In 2018 Buning released his first concept album 'Achterkant van Nederland' under pseudonym Maximé, performed in Dutch. His recent work contains scoring the TV movie Home Shopper's Paradise and several episodes for the successful tv show Sisi.
