Taste Of A Kiss

Body Of Light

Biography

Muscle Memory are here to make your body take control. Brooklyn duo Michael Tapper and Steven Reker have already cut a distinct shape separately in the local scene as dancefloor-filling DJs, and together they’re making dance music that’s weird, wooly, and with a throbbing pulse that moves you from the inside out. They’ve already captivated live audiences and listeners alike with the alluring “Taste of a Kiss,” and with plenty more singles in the pipeline Muscle Memory are set to provide proper satisfaction to anyone with a sweet tooth for left-of-center electronic music. Tapper and Reker have been notable city stalwarts for a minute now; you’ve doubtless heard the former’s stick work behind the drum kit for bands like We Are Scientists, Yellow Ostrich, and Fool’s Gold. Meanwhile, Reker’s own off-kilter approach to songwriting has shone through in his seminal indie rock band People Get Ready, as well as his dancing and choreography work for artists like David Byrne, Khruangbin, and Fleet Foxes. This summer, the duo stepped out with their intoxicating debut EP Taste of a Kiss, featuring the hypnotic title track as well as three distinct edits of the tune—including a delightfully Prince-inspired remix from West Coast producer Woolfy. With more single releases on the way, Muscle Memory are continuing to embrace their own creative regimen, discovering new sounds within their emerging collaborative approach while remaining informed by their indie backgrounds.
