Peruvian born, US based, MAR is a trans/nonbinary artist and advocate. As a songwriter, MAR draws from his Latin American roots as well as blues and folk from his journey through North America. Producing from Latin Pop through electronic all the way to an Indie Folk influenced singer-songwriter vibe, MAR has a knack for crafting lyrics in Spanish & English with authentic vocals that project empowerment. MAR's music career took off in Miami, FL with the EP “En Silencio” which won him Song of the Year 2007 with “Busca Tu Voz”. Winner of the Peruvian Pride Award 2009, MAR remembers his roots with love and loyalty to the place where he began playing and singing. With his second album "Lineas 1000" 2008 and then third release "The One" 2015 MAR toured different cities in North, Central and South America. He has shared his music on radio+television networks such as Azteca TV, Telemundo, in the US and LATAM. In early 2020 his EP "I AM I" was released with his chosen name MAR. This was a collaboration with renowned LA producer Billy Lefler (I.Michaelson, D.Confessional). In June 2022, MAR released latin-urban song "Vuelve a La Vida," and later in August the indie-electronic single “Hollow." LGTBQ+ Citibank Emerging Artist Award 2022 recipient, MAR enjoys collaborating with many like-minded creatives. This time he is teaming up with Mariana Risquez and Raultrasound to share "Es Ahora (It's Time)," an invitation to live in the NOW, to speak up for things that matter and take action.
