The Danish Philharmonic Orchestra is used to travelling: It serves as the State orchestra for Denmark’s South Jutland region and Southern Schleswig in northern Germany. The orchestra celebrated its 60-year anniversary in 2023 as State orchestra, travelling to the Faroe Islands and Greenland on their jubilee tour with great success. The Danish Philharmonic Orchestra excels in music from the Classical Period and Danish composers like Carl Nielsen, Niels W. Gade, Rued Langgaard and Hans Christian Lumbye. Prior chief conductors Shao-Chia Lü and Johannes Wildner have had a noticeable impact on the orchestra’s sound, and the orchestra has collaborated with well-known figures like Sarah Chang, Anthony Pappano, Luciano Pavarotti, Isabelle Van Keulen, Nikolaj Znaider, Andreas Brantelid and many more.
