Biography

Counter-tenor Tim Mead is praised for his “alluring” and “consistently excellent” interpretations (New York Times). With his “rich, mellifluous sound” (Guardian), he is recognised as one of the finest across the generations of counter-tenors. 
 Highlights of the 2022/23 season include his return to the Teatro Real, Madrid for Ulisse in Achille In Sciro and Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the Glyndebourne Festival. Concert appearances include a European tour of Handel Messiah with RIAS Kammerchor, Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart, Les Violons Du Roy, Arcangelo and Les Musiciens de Saint Julien and a return to the Wigmore Hall. 
 Recent operatic highlights include Endimione La Calisto for Teatro Real, Madrid and the Bayerische Staatsoper, Apollo Death in Venice at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Bertarido Rodelinda for Opera de Lille and English National Opera, Oberon A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Glyndebourne and Opera Philadelphia, Hamor Jephtha at the Opéra National de Paris, and Boy/Angel Written on Skin at the Bolshoi. 
 Recent concert highlights include appearances with the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Collegium Vocale Gent, Le Concert d’Astree, Les Arts Florissants, and The English Concert. 
 Mead’s substantial discography includes; Purcell Songs and Dances with Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien (Alpha). Future releases include the solo albums Sacroprofano with Arcangelo (Alpha) and Beauteous Softness with La Nuova Musica (Pentatone).
