Born Jermaine Deshad McDaniel Jr from Dillon, South Carolina in the summer of 1999. BIG Maine is known for his many facets and endeavors. His first hustle was the gridiron and the hometown he grew up in helped him excel in that. While being a focal point on defense at his position, he won 3 out of 4 state championships in his high school tenure. Alongside his academic success, he became a coveted recruit with offers such as Georgia Tech, Harvard, Yale, and Coastal Carolina. Graduating early from high school in 2017, Jermaine elected to play collegiate football at Appalachian State. Located in Boone, North Carolina, elevation 3,333 ft, is where the moniker BIG Maine originated. In June of 2018, on his 19th birthday, he released his first mixtape, BIG Maine Talking via SoundCloud. A 10 track project, with many guest verses from his teammates. A month later, he releases a follow-up installment, BIG Maine Still Talking, a 6 track project. After the 2018 college football season, Jermaine transferred to NC A&T. In the next three years there, his production on the football soared. After a near four year hiatus, he began to release music again. In July of 2022, MAINEVENT, a 6 track EP was released on all streaming platforms. He later rereleased BIG Maine Talking and BIG Maine Still Talking as a full project along with 4 bonus songs. Influenced by T.I as a child and J. Cole as an adolescent, BIG Maine’s songs heavily consist of perennial rhyming and marvelous imagery.
