BriGuy WhiteHorse (BGWH) is a pseudonym for the artist Brian Moran who has been a songwriter since 1996. He played drums and wrote songs for the band Trouser Trouts, who gained radio air play in the late 1990s and early 2000s. BGWH played with several bands since the breakup with the Trouser Trouts for the next decade. He didn’t play music for quite some time until his daughter Bree suggested he start playing drums live again. BGWH always wrote songs, but he never recorded them. In 2016, his son Ben bought him a two-track recorder and he began writing and recording songs in his basement. He plays all the instruments in his songs. He plays the drums, guitar, bass, piano, mandolin, banjo, and violin. He says jokingly he plays them not with an expertise, but just enough to be dangerous with them. He had written at least 30 songs and his son pushed him to release his solo songs. His son Ben is a musician who performs as Durnst and with the band Big Mug Gail. BGWH has subsequently played his songs with Durnst on Durnst & Friends and Big Mug Gail. Brian Moran eventually releases some of his solo songs under the persona of BriGuy WhiteHorse. He is a quarter Chippewa and got the name White Horse through the Native American sweat lodge traditional ceremony. His two children’s friends called him Bri Guy when they were younger and the name stuck. The name BriGuy WhiteHorse was born, along with him now being a solo artist.
