Mount Vernon, New York’s rising rap star Jo Majesty has a style all her own. Witty and brazen, her bar-heavy lyrics are known to pull references from all facets of culture; be it literature, television and film, music, or real world interactions. Her latest single, “Ain’t Gon Front” is an attest to that. From beginning to end, “Ain’t Gon’ Front” takes you on a ride, swerving between cocky and sultry; boastful and seductive; aggressive to smooth. The punchlines are knockouts. The references are all over the place in the best way. “Musical chairs, I’m here to snatch seats” is exactly what she’s come to do. Her previous single, “I Got the Juice” was hailed by HipHopNMore, stating “Jo Majesty establishes herself as a talent and woman not to be toyed with.” She was also spotlighted by “The Unsigned Artist Podcast” as well as several other publications. Her style is the embodiment of her New York upbringing, reminiscent of New York heavyweights LL Cool J, Jay Z, Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown, and Nicki Minaj, while also channeling hometown hero, Heavy D.
