She was one of three Southern African (Shekinah and Nasty C – both from South Africa) artist to have won an Afrima in 2018. Hazel describes her sound as Afrohouse with a delicate balance of soulful raw undertones inspired by the likes of Mirriam Makeba ,Angelique Kidjo to Dj Sonique early 2000 electronic dance vibes. Her music speaks to a generation of music lovers that enjoy poetic lyrics that soothe the soul whilst getting drawn into perfectly curated instrumentals with infectious rhythms.
