Formed in 2013, Wrongchilde is the moniker of singer/songwriter Mat Devine (ex-Kill Hannah), currently based in Los Angeles. The dark pop debut, Gold Blooded, features collaborations with Morgan Kibby (M83/White Sea), Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance), and Alain Whyte (Morrissey). Described as "the lost John Hughes soundtrack" by NME, Gold Blooded was co-produced by Justin Warfield (She Wants Revenge) and received critical praise in Billboard, Vice, MTV, Fuse, Nylon, Black Book, NME, Alternative Press, Kerrang, Bullett, and The Onion. The first single, "Falling In Love (Will Kill You)," is an acoustic duet with Gerard Way, which spread virally and was widely received by fans; The REMIX by Krewella’s RAINMAN premiered on Zane Lowe's RADIO 1 BBC show, as well as VICE.com. Reflecting upon the independent creative process, Devine said: "It's given me an incredible amount of freedom. Artistically, it was cool for me to take a departure from from the bureaucracy of the music industry. To write songs for the reasons that I initially fell in love with songwriting in my dorm room as a kid, to disregard all pressures and say the things I would say if I knew this was my last day on earth."
