James Murray is a composer specialising in minimal electronic and electroacoustic music. His recordings have been issued by respected labels worldwide since 2004 and often have strong conceptual themes inviting private reflection. His compositions are unified by a light touch and signature sonic palette frequently involving treated acoustic sources and processed electronics. Murray is known for his solo work, collaborations, remixes and curation of his Slowcraft label, an imprint dedicated to exceptional, unclassifiable music in carefully presented editions. He produces singer-songwriter Anne Garner and is half of Silent Vigils with composer Stijn Hüwels. Slow Reels, a studio and live project with Ian Hawgood, debuted on Morr Music in March 2020.
