Biography

Known as the Iberian Guitar Player, Manuel de Oliveira, embodies his compositions with an Iberian soul that runs in his veins. Nonetheless, the respect, the timeless worship for his origins and traditions emanate vividly in his music. With a vast international path, he is one of the most prolific contemporary guitar players. From his vast curriculum, it stands out the international edition of his album “Amarte” and his presence in some of the most important European Festivals – “Emociona Jazz” (Spain) and “Couleurs Jazz” (France), headlining with Brad Mehldau, Chick Corea, Mike Stern and Richard Galliano, amongst others. Manuel de Oliveira created the show “Os Nossos Afetos” for the opening ceremony of the European Capital of Culture: “Guimarães 2012”, featuring Cristina Branco, Chico César and Rão Kyao. In 2016, his acclaimed creation “Ibéria Live”, performed with the renowned guest musicians founders of the Flamenco Jazz scene - Jorge Pardo and Carles Benavent, sold out the two most important venues in Portugal - Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisbon) and Casa da Música (Porto). In the last years, the artist has dedicated himself to creating for solo guitar and composing with cellist Sandra Martins and accordionist João Frade. “Entre-Lugar” is the result of this collaboration. The record, release on 13th November of 2020 has also special collaborations of the fado singer Marco Rodrigues, the drummer and percussionist Marito Marques, among others.
