Biography

Jemie John AKA “Jem Jem”, Bouyon artist from the Island of Dominica. Originally from the small village of Massacre, Jemie began learning music from his father Glenford John who is a lifelong musician and guitarist. His father’s passion for music would later inspire Jemie to also gain a keen interest in music, both singing and writing; and eventually led to him becoming a solo artist. Jem Jem caught his first break into the music industry after catching the eye of young local producer Yohan “Puskey” Ferrol, where he debut his first popular song entitled “Zang and Yellow” with his first band Outa Street Steppers before moving on to become a solo artist. This song propelled him to be recognized by many event planners and promoters who often refer to him as “Jem Jem” or “Double Jem”. To date, Jem Jem has performed in various local events and village feast line-ups, as well as an artist alongside local band and Bouyon pioneer WCK during the 2013 World Creole Music Festival. He has also performed at Antigua Carnival alongside Triple Kay Band in 2019 where many of his songs captured the crowds. Jem Jem now works with locally renowned producer “The Wizzard” in alliance with his music label “Wizzard House” where he is a songwriter and artist. Jem Jem is poised to make major contributions to the local and regional music industry as he continues to work with the many established and up and coming artist.
