Illustrious is a Los Angeles based singer, songwriter, artist, drummer, & audio engineer for artists including Lil Tracy, Gangsta Boo (of Three 6 Mafia), Eddy Baker, idontknowjeffery, Sad Frosty, $teven Cannon, JELEEL!, SK8, @Tyler Wayne, & many more. Illustrious, born Jacob Godfrey, was raised in San Martin, CA. He found his place in the local hardcore scene drumming, then progressed to recording bands as a side hustle. In 2019 he moved to Los Angeles to further pursue music as a full-time career. In 2021, he founded Ill Intent studios in Burbank, CA, after engineering full time already at Slime Vault Studios & then Da Kastle starting early 2019. After deciding to dedicate Illustrious as a passion project & sideline engineering, he joined his incredibly quickly rising band whatsdysmorphia in October 2022 as lead vocalist, a very full circle moment for the young metalhead turned audio engineer. The 5 piece "metadeath" group quickly gained local & national attention with its chaotic, genre bending music - as well as non-stop nationwide tours & performances. In early 2024, Illustrious amicably parted ways with whatsdysmorphia & is now residing in Southern California. He is currently running & head engineer of aforementioned Ill Intent Recording Studio. Though he is back in his roots of engineering - Illustrious still remains a passion project & serves as a story of his emotional journey navigating relationships, love, the industry, betrayal, & more.
