Biography

Claudio Cruz started in music with his father, later received guidance from Erich Lenninger, Maria Vischnia (violin) and George Olivier Toni (Theory and Regency). He was awarded by the São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA), Carlos Gomes Award, Bravo Award, Grammy Awards among others. He has acted as a guest conductor in several orchestras, among them the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (Osesp), Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, Petrobras Symphony, Symphony of the Municipal Theater of São Paulo, Symphony of Porto Alegre, Symphony of Brasília, Symphony Orchestra of Curitiba, Osaka Chamber Orchestra, Toulouse Chamber Orchestra, Avignon Symphony Orchestra, Northern Symphony (England), Warsaw Symphony, New Japan Philharmonic, Hyogo Academy Orchestra, Hiroshima Symphony (Japan), Vogtland Philharmonie (Germany), Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra among others. He participated in several Music Festivals, in Brazil his participation as Conductor of the Academic Orchestra of the Campos de Jordão International Festival in 2010 and 2011 stands out. He was Musical Director of the Villa-lobos Chamber Orchestra, Principal Conductor of the Ribeirão Preto Symphonies and from Campinas. From 1990 to 2014 he held the position of Spalla at Osesp. In 2018 he was Principal Conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro, currently he is the First Violin of the Quartet Carlos Gomes, Conductor and Musical Director of the Youth Orchestra of the State of São Paulo.
