Maurice completed studies at Boston's Berklee College of Music in Composition and Performance. He also received a National Endowment for the Arts scholarship to study under Jazz legend Lew Tabackin. Of his first album, “Jazz Sunrise” Billboard Magazine said, “Maurice is a man to hear.” In addition to leading his own band, Maurice performs with Latin soul-funk legend, “Little Willie G”. He spent many years as Music Director, sax/flute player and recording engineer/producer for “The Hues Corporation” (Rock The Boat). In 1988 he opened his recording studio Maurice Gainen Productions in Los Angeles’ trend setting Silver Lake district. Since then, he has produced, recorded, mixed and mastered too many recordings to count, in all genres. He has also played flute and/or sax on many of these. He does Mastering for all of the major record labels and his credits include over 187 CDs mastered for Starbucks. He has released 10 recordings as a solo artist. He also does start to finish video production for himself and other artists. Since his 4th CD “7 Continents - GLOBAL JAMS”, he has built an international network of talented musicians from every continent, including Antarctica. He has used many notable collaborators and guest artists. He is proud of the fact that for many talented musicians, their appearance on his recordings was their first on a USA-based release and it usually has led to other opportunities for them in the USA.
