Daphne Willibard Talamondjilla Oteya, A leader and pioneer in the field as a singer, with a career spanning over 20 years in the music industry. This career came after Daphne Willibard writing songs and performing from as early as 11 years old. After releasing an album with and the subsequent split from the Dungeon family, Daphne’s career was to enjoy a meteoritic rise earlier on. Her journey along her musical path led her to Ogopa Butterfly in 2013 where she signed to the label as part of a pair act with Frieda Haindaka [FREEDA] a pair affectionately known as Gal Level released the first album ‘SHAKE IT” within a year of signing and were soon garnering local and international curiosity and later attention. Gal level’s influence left to over Namibia’s boarders and with five albums to their name, they toured East, West, North and South Africa visiting countries such as Benin, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Angola, South Africa and Malawi. In Namibia, Oteya has been nominated and has received numerous awards throughout the duration of her career. With gal level the duo was mend best new comer, best RnB at the Sanlam NBC music awards in 2005 and best group RnB and best females at the same awards a year later in 2006. In 2011 Gal level won ‘best group female artist, best collaboration at the [NAMAs]. 2015, Oteya won best female artist of the year and best Afro-pop at [the NAMAs], her first awards as a solo artist.
