Boom Bip is a notable American musician who made his name as an underground hip-hop producer in the early 2000s, but has since successfully branched out into ambient, rock and electronic music. His live performances have taken place at numerous festivals, including Coachella and Glastonbury. He has remixed and collaborated with dozens of artists ranging from Four Tet, M83 to Oasis and Mogwai. Hollon became a DJ in 1994 while attending college in Cincinnati. Three years later, Mush records released Circle, Boom Bip's full-length collaboration with Doseone. The album was highly experimental work that tested the boundaries of hip-hop and gradually accumulated a cult following. Boom Bip's proper solo albums feat collaborations and remixes with Buck 65, Doseone, Boards of Canada, Venetian Snares, Mogwai, and others. John Peel invited Boom Bip to record two Peel Sessions and referred to his first album, Circle, as a “modern day Captain Beefheart. Hollon created Neon Neon, a project with Gruff Rhys. The duo released full-length Stainless Style and Praxis Makes Perfext, a fascinating collection of '80s throwback electro and new wave that was loosely inspired by the life of car designer John DeLorean and publisher Giangiacomo Feltrinelli. Stainless Steel earned a nomination for the 2008 Mercury Music. Most recently he has formed, Belief, with Stella Mozgawa.
