SVERRE INDRIS JONER - Is a norwegian composer, arranger and musician. his musical career started with ukulele at age 5, later guitar, but the music interest awakened when he at the age 11 suddenly started learning piano as auto-didact, inspired by Rick Wakeman (Yes) and his impressive multiple keyboard-rig. His first gigs were at 15 with Norways first afro-reggae band ”Destiny” in 1978. He started his music studies at the University of Oslo. His interest for percussion and Latin-American music took focus. He got into music from Argentina, Brasil and Cuba. In 1985 he first travelled to Cuba and attended classes in Havana, and took private lessons in afro-cuban percussion, and later travelled to other Latin American countries. Back in Oslo he started La Descarga; Norways first salsaband. Almost at the same time the tango-quartet Tango for 3 was founded (as a trio at the time, thus the name) and he started composing and arranging for this ensemble. Later he founded Hovedøen Social Club and Electrocutango. Joner got the honorary title ”Academico Correspondiente” in the Argentine Tango-Academy by Piazzollas lyricist/poet Horacio Ferrer on tour in Buenos Aires 2011. He has done several concerts working with renowned symphony orchestras in Europe, such as BBC Symphony Orchestra, Munchner Rundfunk Orchester and all the Norwegian Symphony Orchestras, and composed for theatre, film, ballet and concert music.
