Biography

Chamber folk - new fiddle music from the borderlands of classical and folk music Danish Fiddle Quartet is a new string quartet, playing new nordic folk. The music is moving in the borderlands of classic and folkmusic and has foot and heart in both genres. With this new ensemble Jørgen Dickmeiss is outliving an old dream of creating a string quartet consisting of musicians with a good knowledge of both folk- and classic traditions. The music he has composed and arranged is new compositions, traditional stuff and a few Carl Nielsen interpretations. Also this string quartet consists of 2 great singers, which adds a certain flavour to the music. The quartet consists of the two fiddlers Jørgen Dickmeiss and Ditte Fromseier Hockings, who are both wellknown danish folkmusicians and Bruno Sanches and Mathilde Helding on viola and cello, who are both well established classical musicians.
