Lopis is a Seattle-based rapper working with producer Ezra Guyll from Sendai Studios. Lopis was born in a small town in the Arizona desert, but his mother moved him and his brother to Seattle when he was a toddler. His upbringing was rough, and he started getting into trouble at a young age. By the time he was sixteen, his mother feared he would end up dead or in jail, so she sent him back to Arizona hoping his father could straighten him out. Nothing could have been further from the truth. At seventeen, Lopis had a son, and while the mother chose drugs, Lopis chose to be the father he never had. He got a job working construction, and focused on providing for his boy. It didn’t take long for him to realize that Eminem was right – those goddam food stamps really don’t buy diapers – and he longed for a better life. A friend’s wise words provided the epiphany Lopis needed to realize he could do anything he set his mind to, and he left construction to pursue a career in medicine. Once he became a doctor, he climbed the ladder quickly and decided to go the CEO route, pursuing an MBA, but he soon realized that, while he was successful, he wasn’t happy. He had spent so much time working on the right side of his brain that his creative side had atrophied, leaving him feeling unfulfilled. He began writing and found the process therapeutic. A month before his second child was born, he began recording his lyrics to music, and his creative journey began.
