Lloyd Green Wells is an American guitarist, composer, musical director and arranger now residing in Nashville, TN. He is an inductee to the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame and a member of the Alumni Hall of Fame of the University of Southern Mississippi. Wells grew up in Laurel, Mississippi and attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he graduated with a Bachelor of Music and started teaching high school band in Magnolia, Mississippi. In 1964, he moved to New York City with encouragement from Mundell Lowe, where he lived for 10 years. After another 6 years in Manhattan, he moved the Englewood, NJ. Wells has played on several Broadway shows, Sesame Street, The Ed Sullivan Show, The Tony Awards, and The Skitch Henderson Show. Lloyd has also performed and/or recorded with Peggy Lee, Glenn Miller Orchestra (with Buddy DeFranco), The Tonight Show Band, Mundell Lowe, Brenda Lee, Tennessee Ernie Ford and many more. In 1973, Lloyd and his family moved to Nashville, TN where he began playing sessions for Harold Bradley. Soon after, he took a job at Opryland U.S.A. theme park as a musician and later became Musical Director where he remained for 23 years. He wrote approximately 5,000 arrangements including many for major productions and various television specials. Mr. Wells has written for and conducted the Nashville Symphony on several occasions. Lloyd Wells now enjoys practicing guitar daily, working in his yard, and spending time with his family.
