‘It was one of the most musical musical performances of the Concerto de Aranjuez that I can Remember, sensitive and transparent, seemingly effortless’ Colombian born classical guitarist Francisco Correa moved to Europe to study in 2006. He graduated in 2015 from his Masters degree at the Royal Academy of Music. A prizewinner in many classical guitar competitions, he has also been awarded the "Médaille d’Or", as well as the "Prix de Perfectionnement" in France where Francisco studied with Judicael Perroy. A regular recital soloist, Francisco has also performed many concertos with orchestra: most notably the Aranjuez concerto in st Martin in the Fields; the Aranjuez concerto live on Colombian radio and television with the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra; and in November he will do the Latin American premiere of Steve Goss’s Guitar concerto 2012 with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional in Bogotá. Alongside his solo career, Francisco is an enthusiastic chamber musician: he is currently touring the country with his trio CarmenCo, providing the music for the new concert-play Creating Carmen, which has received generous funding from arts council of England. Francisco also works regularly as a multi-instrumentalist in orchestras and in particular has worked regularly with with Glyndebourne Opera. His debut CD, a collection of classical guitar music by young Colombian composers, contains many original compositions, some dedicated to Francisco himself, and will be launched in 5 countries.
