Hubert Dupont is a Paris based double-bass and electric bass player, composer, improviser. In the 1990’s he was a working sideman (Robin Eubanks, Steve Lacy, Harold Land, Glenn Ferris, Calvin Weston, Stefano Di Battista,… ) and a member of Paris alternative jazz scene : along with Benoît Delbecq, Guillaume Orti, and drummers Stéphane Galland, Chander Sardjoe, Samuel Ber, he is a member of Kartet for seven albums (« A distinctive sound » Ben Ratlif, NY-Times). He was named « revelation 2005 » in Guitarist/Bassman after his double-bass solo album Ultraboles. In 2007 he initiated his quartet with Rudresh Mahanthappa (“an engrossing album, called Spider’s Dance“ - Nate Chinen, NY-Times), then with Denis Guivarc’h on sax. He had other collaborations with eastern musicians Ahmad Al Khatib, Youssef Hbeisch , Keyvan Chemirani Naïssam Jalal, Zied Zouari. On the electric side, he founded Sirocco, with dancer Smaïl Kanouté, beatmaker Théo Fischer, saxophonist Christophe Monniot ; he initiated Trio Kosmos with improvisers Steve Argüelles and Antoine Berjeaut.
