Black Jade is a Chinese American, Los Angeles-based music producer, vocalist, and songwriter. She draws inspiration from traditional East Asian music and experimental computer music--blending those disparate influences with r&b, pop, and indie. She's a resident for Beat Cinema, a music collective and event series. Black Jade also holds a PhD in Computer Music from UC San Diego and is a music software developer with Output. In alignment with crystal therapy, in which black jade is used to transform negativity into positivity, Black Jade hopes that her music can shift her listeners into a more positive state of mind.
