Josef Salvat burst onto the international music scene in 2014 with the dark, brooding electropop of ‘Hustler’. He went on to release the critically acclaimed debut album Night Swim while quietly becoming an underground hero as a featured vocalist on tracks with the likes Gryffin and Tourist among others. He has sold out multiple tours in the UK and Europe where he also scored a #1 airplay record with ‘Open Season’, a Gold record with ‘Diamonds’ and a gold album with Night Swim in France before releasing his 2019 album modern anxiety, exec produced by long-time collaborator Rich Cooper (Mystery Jets, Tom Odell), mixed by Geoff Swan (Ed Sheeran, Grimes, Years & Years, Haim), assisted by Niko Battistini (Charli XCX), it was bursting with vitality, despair, fresh perspectives and raw honesty - working as a travelogue through the tempestuous love-life which traced his twenties. Last year, Josef also shared The Close/ Le Réveil, an incredibly intimate EP, written and recorded at home during 2020’s lockdown. Now released from the shackles of a major label and armed with a new-found sense of independence, confidence and creative control, Islands is the album Josef Salvat has always wanted to create. An album full of colour, emotion and clarity.
