Kushy Carlito began writing as a kid and his talent was recognized early on in the 5th grade when a teacher offered to buy one of his lyric notebooks. Unfortunately, his father passed on the offer and wanted Kushy to focus on basketball instead, which put his dreams of making music on hold. As Kushy got older, he showed promise on the basketball court and became a ranked player in the state of California and college prospect. He also started getting recruited by notable D1 basketball programs, but due to unforeseen events out of Kushy’s control his ability to play high school basketball was taken away from him, killing his hoop dreams for good. Kushy’s allure for the streets became his main squeeze after basketball. What else was left? After a strong run and a couple of run ins with the law, Kushy eventually became a father and knew it was time to pursue a new path in life. At last, it was time to get back to the music.
