Biography

DJ Envy is quite possibly the hardest working DJ in music. His routine goes something like this: Morning: Host top rated morning show / Afternoon: business meetings / Night: studio sessions / Late Night: DJ gigs til the wee hours, head back to radio station / Repeat. All that and he still manages to be a dedicated husband and devoted father to 5 beautiful children. Born Rashaaun Casey in Queens, NY, DJ Envy got his start DJing in the traditional sense, mixing records with 2 turntables and a microphone. The future mixtape king quickly made a name for himself, becoming the life of the party in the New York underground hip-hop scene. DJ Envy climbed the ranks and by the early 2000’s he was premiering the most exclusive freestyles by huge hip-hop names such as Jay-Z, 50 Cent and Kanye on his legendary mixtape series. A rising star in the urban world, he went on to become a 3x “Justo Mixtape” award winner. His moves caught the attention of fellow queens native, DJ Clue, who signed him to his Sony imprint – Desert Storm Records. A graduate of the prestigious Hampton University – Envy perused further elevation in his career and his next big break came when he filled in one night for a pregnant Angie Martinez on her Hot 97 radio show. He soon pivoted that opportunity into co-hosting his own Hot 97 morning show with Miss Jones, as well spinning on his own popular mixshows “The People’s Mix”, “New at 2” and “The People’s Choice Hit List.” DJ Envy was named “Most Influential Radio DJ” at the Underground Music Awards soon after. Quickly realizing that his personable brand lived far outside just the music landscape, DJ Envy added television to his repertoire when he became host of MTV2’s Sucker Free and Week in Jams and co-produced The Heart of the City showcase to discover new talent. He even landed a cameo in HBO hit show, Entourage. Currently, Envy is host of The Breakfast Club alongside Angela Yee and Charlemagne Tha God, sharing his voice with millions of listeners across more than 80 markets every day. The hilarious thought-provoking show is the number one urban radio show and commonly regarded as the nation’s top morning show, period. On the weekends, DJ Envy is continually hosting not one but two weekend shows on SiriusXM, The People’s Choice Mix & The Music Meeting Top 20 Countdown. During his downtime at home, he’s hosting a popular podcast with his wife Gia Casey titled, The Casey Crew which receives more than 20,000 streams per episode. DJ Envy is unstoppable. With DJ, husband, father, producer and business owner already under his belt – DJ Envy has already embarked on his next venture...Artistry....DJ Envy is set to release his official single “Text Ur Number” Ft. Fetty Wap & Sliink this summer. The up-tempo smash mixes street sensibilities, melodic vocals and rhythmic bounce to create an anthem that is sure to dominate clubs and radio waves. A full length album is due early 2018 and will feature a who’s who of urban music with tracks from 2 Chainz, Nicki Minaj, Bryson Tiller, A Boogie With A Hoodie, Chris Brown, Fabolous, Ty Dolla $ign and more. The term DJ is used to describe a wide variety of characters in today’s musical landscape. There are DJs who are on the radio, DJ’s who spin at clubs, DJ’s who perform at festivals, DJ’s who produce…and then there are DJ’s who do it all. That is DJ Envy.
