Formed under the heat of the South Texas sun, San Antonio-based hip-hop collective, The Romance Club, blends the sounds of hip-hop, trap, and indie. Having emerged in 2020 during the start of a global pandemic, these 4 rappers united when previous musical entanglements they were involved in were abruptly paused. Rapper/producer Vermin the Villain (aka LORD VERM) sets an old-school hip-hop foundation within the group, having a heavy hand in sampling and rocking his signature mask at all times, he brings a gritty nostalgic 90’s touch to The Romance Club's core sound. Meanwhile, HellCat! (aka Daytona) brings dreamy falsettos and hellfire flows to the fusion and emphasizes the hip-hop sound in an alternative take, all while contributing a signature lofi-chop sound. Rapper/producer Karena SOL (aka K$OL2000) enhances the fusion with psychedelic and trap layers, hitting the beats with a pop-rap type of flow, and brings a cloudy atmosphere that counter-mingles with the earthy tones. Similarly, rapper/producer Tommy Starchild (aka Child of the Stars) brings an energetic flow that cuts through the mix with tight rhythmic execution, and a golden vibe familiar to Texas rap culture. In the upcoming project, The Romance Club spits about their come-up story as they experience the trials of heartbreak, loss, and the lust of the mundane. Their message acknowledges struggle but focuses on their endless passion for their dreams and their respect for cosmic fate.
