Mezzo-soprano Marta Knörr, a versatile performer, at home in a wide range of musical genres and styles, works regularly as a soloist with various vocal and instrumental chamber groups. She was a prize winner at the “Francisco Viñas” International Singing Competition in Barcelona. She has sung a wide variety of solo roles in opera productions ranging from Henry Purcell to Kurt Weill. Considered by the specialized critic as "the Spanish reference" for the Pierrot lunaire by Schoenberg she has interpreted this work several times with great critical success. As a distinguished concert and oratorio singer she has performed in Spain’s principal concert halls and festivals. She has made several recordings for Radio Clásica and given recitals in Spain, Austria, Germany, Norway, France, Italy, Sweden, Mexico and Morocco. A great fan of contemporary music, she has premiered works by many composers. Among her recordings, two in particular stand out, centred on 20th century Spanish art songs: 'Canciones del Grupo de Madrid' and 'Spanish female composers of the 20th century', on the Columna Música label. At the same recording company she has recorded an album of works by Guastavino and Castelnuovo-Tedesco along with the Cavatina Vocal Quartet. The Italian label Stradivarius has brought out the first recording of the Retablo sobre textos de Paul Klee by Benet Casablancas. With the 'Trio Arbós' she also recorded a monographic CD of works by composer Alejandro Román for the Naxos label.
