Buddahbabywoo was born Shaun Shakespeare in Kingston Jamaica, the son of legendary bass player and producer Robbie Shakespeare of the celebrated bass and drums duo Sly and Robbie. His early years were spent in Kingston before the family moved to South Florida. His first experience in the limelight was being brought onstage by his father during a Black Uhuru European tour when he was nine years old. It was almost inevitable that Buddah would turn to music. He learned to play his father’s instrument, bass guitar, and still loves playing and advancing his skills. But he found he also had a talent for songwriting and rapping and singing his own material. Buddah gained a reputation in South Florida for his diverse styles and his ability to express both himself and his community’s trials and hardships, joy and pain. Buddah is a force to be reckoned with in reggae, trap dancehall, afrobeats and more.
