Singer Peyton Parrish is known for his throaty brand of Viking-inspired country and post-grunge, as well as his inventive cover tunes. He garnered viral fame in 2020 with his cover of the Assassin's Creed Valhalla video game song "My Mother Told Me," which was included in the TV show Vikings. That same year, he released his debut album, Cowboy Man, featuring the single "Ragnarök." Based on the Icelandic poem Egil's Saga, the song garnered Parrish yet more attention after it was featured on the television show Vikings. In 2020, he released his debut full-length album, Cowboy Man, which included the track "Ragnarök," as well as a cover of the Cranberries song "Zombie." The equally Viking- and metal-core-inspired Rise of Vikingr arrived in 2021, featuring guest spots by Lone Wolf and David Michael Frank.
